In the spring of 2025, I worked on a large-scale organ piece for Rob Nederlof, the city organist of Tilburg. I completed the composition titled Swinging Moods / Schommelende Stemmingen on June 7, 2025.
Swinging Moods / Schommelende Stemmingen is a work more than 12 minutes long and feels for me as a little organ symphony. It moves in style between classical, pop, and jazz, swinging back and forth between modes, movement, and moods.
Rob Nederlof gave the world premiere of the piece on Saturday, June 28, 2025, during the closing concert of the concert series Zomerse Zaterdag Middag Muziek. The performance took place in the Heuvelse Kerk in Tilburg, on the beautiful Smits organ.
